What the Holy Bible says about Truth:
6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. (John 14: 6)
31 To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. 32 Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” (John 8: 31-32)
15 “If you love me, keep my commands. 16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever— 17 the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you. (John 14: 15-17)
Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. 2 This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, 3 but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world. 4 You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. 5 They are from the world and therefore speak from the viewpoint of the world, and the world listens to them. 6 We are from God, and whoever knows God listens to us; but whoever is not from God does not listen to us. This is how we recognize the Spirit of truth and the spirit of falsehood. (1 John 4: 1-6)
4 Show me your ways, Lord, teach me your paths. 5 Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long. (Psalm 25: 4-5)
3 This is good, and pleases God our Savior, 4 who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. (1 Timothy 2: 3-4)
Something worth considering:
Each person views, interprets, and experiences the world in his/her own way. That viewpoint becomes their reality — but “reality” and “truth” are not the same thing. While reality may be personal, truth is universal. What people believe to be true does not change what is in fact, true.
For centuries, most people believed that the world was flat. But believing the world was flat did not alter the fact that the world was not flat. While each person has the right to choose what to believe, they do not have the power to change what is or is not true.
Since “truth” does exist and it is independent of individual interpretation, how do we know what is really true? And what risks do we take if what we believe to be true is not actually true?
