What the Holy Bible says about Self Esteem:

26 Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.” 27 So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. (Genesis 1: 26-27)

“Whoever sheds human blood, by humans shall their blood be shed; for in the image of God has God made mankind. (Genesis 9: 6)

27 No, the Father himself loves you because you have loved me and have believed that I came from God. 28 I came from the Father and entered the world; now I am leaving the world and going back to the Father.” (John 16: 27-28)

Something worth considering:

Many people struggle with feelings of emptiness, helplessness, and worthlessness. Too often, our self esteem is directly related to our physical appearance or what we’ve accomplished — and when we don’t measure up to expectations, our self esteem plummets. But our real value is not based on what we do — it is based on who we are. Who are we? We are God’s children. And we are created in God’s image.

God loves you. Yes, you’ve probably heard that before but really listen: God loves YOU. For the full impact of those words, try inserting your own name in the place of “you” and say it out loud: God loves [insert your name here]. Say it out loud and listen to the words. Contemplate and absorb those words. God loves YOU!

Most people who see a newborn baby for the first time are instinctively aware of the precious gift they behold. That tiny baby has value beyond measure. The baby has done nothing to earn that value. S/he has only smiled, eaten, burped, and pooped. Yet, we recognize the intrinsic value of a baby. Consider this: the baby’s intrinsic value remains regardless of the increasing age of the body. When you were a baby, you were precious beyond measure — and you still are.

You are a child of God and He loves you. God loves you more than you love yourself. God loves you more than your parents love you. God loves you more than you love your own children. You are one of God’s children. God’s love is not contingent upon what you do (or did) — we cannot earn His love and we cannot lose His love. God loves us simply because we are His children.

By ourselves, we can do nothing to become “worthy” of God’s love. No matter how hard we try, we still make mistakes, we sin, and we are unclean. We simply are not worthy of God’s love. And we know it. At some level, each of us can feel the conviction of our wrongdoing. God loves us but He hates sin. God is holy. Sin is not. Even though God loves us, sin separates us from God. There is a price to pay for sin.

The One who was without sin, the Lamb of God, sacrificed himself to pay the price for our sin. For those who accept the gift of forgiveness and salvation through Jesus Christ, we are cleansed from the stain of our sins. God sees believers through the righteousness, perfection, and worthiness of His son Jesus. Not through our own power but only because of Jesus and through Jesus: we are forgiven, we are cleansed, we are worthy.

If you are feeling a void in your life, fill that void with a personal relationship with your Creator. God is the only one who can completely fill that void. God loves you and wants to show you how very valuable you are!
